Be Prepared. For Life.

Scouts BSA and Troop 9028
Troop 9028 in Mt. Lebanon Pennsylvania is welcoming girls ages 11-17 to become founding members. We are scout-led which means the youth members, not the adults, set the program. Our members enjoy the outdoors so expect fun scout activities like camping, hiking, and kayaking. But we also help take care of our community and the environment through service projects and by doing our “good turn daily.”
We meet every Tuesday night from 7:30 PM - 9:00 PM at the Bower Hill Community Church. Most of us juggle other activities besides Scouts, so our meetings and events are “come-as-you-can.” We strongly encourage girls younger than 11 to join Pack 28 - you will not be alone.
WHY SHOULD I JOIN (YET ANOTHER THING)?
-
Every girl deserves a posse. Our common experiences bind us together. We are a group with wide-ranging interests, and we love celebrating each member for who she is. There is no right-or-wrong Troop 9028 type.
-
We love the outdoors and nature. We also care about our environment by practicing the Principals of Leave No Trace and feel Planet Earth is worth fighting for. We follow the Outdoor Code:
-
As an American, I will do my best to—
-
Be clean in my outdoor manners.
-
Be careful with fire.
-
Be considerate in the outdoors.
-
Be conservation-minded.
-
-
The world needs more female leaders. The Scouts BSA program is the gold standard of leadership training for youth in America. Let's take advantage of what has paid off for so many Eagle Scouts and put our spin on it.
-
Patches. They are addictive and we love them. Scouts can earn up to 138 merit badges by learning about different topics, going on outdoor adventures, and completing requirements. Check out the full range of scouting bling here: https://www.scouting.org/skills/merit-badges/all/

Scouts may be a good counterpoint to the other things and groups you’re involved in. Step into Scouting and enjoy a welcome respite from the constant competition of organized sports and Lebo-level academics. Sometimes it’s just nice to hang out with friends.
WHAT IS THE CONNECTION WITH THE BOYS IN TROOP 28?
Ok, so until the scouts decide otherwise, a majority of our meetings and activities will be conducted in conjunction with Troop 28. We're all friends and we like that no one feels excluded. If you'd prefer a female-only experience, we can connect you with a local Girl Scout Troop or an "unlinked" Scouts BSA Girl Troop.
To ensure we all stay safe, our troop follows all the youth protection guidelines outlined here: https://www.scouting.org/health-and-safety/gss/gss01/

HOW TO SIGN UP OR LEARN MORE?
Email our scoutmaster Sharon Huff (slh.scouting@gmail.com) and let us know you’re interested. You’ll be able to meet us and our adult leadership before registering. Girls who join soon will be able to participate in our summer activities, so don’t delay!
